S&K applauds team member & Senior Electrical Designer, Yapram Kolsouzian, for being named the Employee of the Quarter for the last quarter of 2010. Yapram never hesitated to fill the void where needed, working odd hours to get the work done without complaining. It’s employees like Yapram who help us keep our clients happy and sustain a successful business. So we share our sincere thanks for a job well done!

Yapram possesses more than 35 years’ experience in electrical systems engineering. He joined S&K Engineers in 2005. He provides electrical support on a wide variety of projects including airport terminals, college campuses, public safety facilities, medical office buildings. On his projects, he is responsible for preparing design and contract documents for power and lighting systems. He is proficient in preparing lighting calculations and coordinating communications and data needs.

Yapram started his career working for Iraq’s State Organization of Electricity in 1972 where he learned not only about design, but also installation, distribution and maintenance of electricity. He moved to the United States in 1981 to start employment with Bechtel, where he was responsible for originating design drawings and packages. His accolades include multiple research projects focused on the breakdown voltage of sphere and rod gaps.

As the calendar year comes to a close, S&K would like to thank all the people and organizations who helped us sustain another successful year in business. We are grateful for the work our clients provide us as well as the business partners with whom we collaborate to effectively deliver our projects. S&K thanks you for your loyalty!

As we look back on the milestones of 2010, we celebrate and take a minute to reflect on the journey. In this year, S&K said good-bye to our long-time employee, Russell Ferbrache, who retired to a life of travel and leisure. Russ was with S&K for 10 years as a Senior Electrical Designer and was well regarded by all who worked with him. This bittersweet farewell was offset with the addition of Bob Kuisel to our staff. Bob boasts over 35 years engineering experience of which the last seven, he spent as a Project Manager at HDR Architecture with a focus on commercial and industrial projects. Bob is LEED Accredited and is a tremendous asset to the S&K team.

S&K is also proud of the efforts of our entire technical team who participated in twice-weekly Revit training classes over the course of 4 months to earn a formal certification. The staff was put right to the task with projects for the Riverside Community College District, Cerritos College and Los Angeles World Airports, and they quickly adapted and streamlined our project delivery method.

Our momentum was carried through with ongoing projects at LAX ranging from terminal assessments to the development of tenant design criteria and the award of the Taxiline T contract with Kimley-Horn and Associates. Much anticipated seismic upgrade work also began on the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in West Los Angeles. We made our project debut on the campuses of College of the Redwoods and Norco College in Riverside County, while new projects continued to start at El Camino College and Compton College. Other project milestones include the completion of the Moreno Valley Emergency Operations Center, which was honored with an American Public Works Association, Southern California Chapter B.E.S.T. Project of the Year award.

S&K also “paid it forward” with philanthropic participation to Cerritos College Foundation, College of the Desert College Athletic Association, Compton Center Associated Student Body, El Camino College Football Program, and El Camino College Foundation.

In light of these milestones, we close this year with optimism and forward momentum for 2011. We look forward to sustaining our professional circle of friends and forging new alliances. To all, we wish the best of holidays and hope to see you next year!
